“Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters. And God said, ‘Let there be light,’ and there was light.  God saw that the light was good, and he separated the light from the darkness.  God called the light ‘day,’ and the darkness he called ‘night.’ And there was evening, and there was morning—the first day.”                  Genesis 1:2-3

At St John Rigby, we recognise the importance of Science in every aspect of daily life. We aim to enable our pupils to develop as independent, confident and successful learners by providing a science curriculum based around scientific enquiry. Pupils are encouraged to ask questions and we will guide and support them to discover the answers. Through scientific enquiry pupils will develop a natural curiosity to discover the wonders of the world around them. The Science curriculum we provide will engage pupils in the development of their own learning, creating Scientists who gain the knowledge, skills and understanding required so that Science is further developed into the next stages of life. Through Science our pupils will begin to understand how intricate and amazing God’s world is and will be encouraged to develop a respect for the living organisms and the physical environment that surrounds them.
