St John Rigby Catholic Primary School and Preschool

St John Rigby Catholic Primary School and Preschool

The Preschool will offer 15 places for children aged 3-4 years old, term-time only.

Children are considered preschool age from the beginning of the term following their third birthday, e.g. children will need to be three years old by the 31st August in order to begin in September.

All children aged 3 and 4 are entitled to 15 hours of early education per week for 38 weeks of the year, funded by the government.

Some families may also be eligible for 30 hours of funded childcare. For more information and to check if you are eligible for extended funding, please use the link.

Once we have received your application expressing your interest in a preschool place, you will be notified whether you have been allocated a place or added to the waiting list. If a place is offered, a full application form will then be sent to ensure that all admissions criteria are fully met.

Admission Criteria

Places in our preschool are allocated in line with the school’s admissions policy. Where applications exceed the number of places available, the highest priority is given to looked after and previously looked after children. Priority is then given to Catholic children, particularly those with a Certificate of Catholic Practice and siblings already attending the main primary school, followed by children of staff, non-Catholic siblings, children from other Christian denominations or faiths, and finally all other applicants.

Children with a Statement of Educational Needs naming the preschool will be admitted in accordance with Bedfordshire Borough Council policy and regulations.

Full details of the school's admissions criteria can be found in our Admissions Policy on the school website.
