Catholic Primary School

“Addressing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody to the Lord with your heart.” Ephesians 5:19

At St John rigby, we want our pupils to learn that music is a universal language that embodies one of the highest forms of creativity. Music lessons hope to engage and inspire pupils to develop a love of music and develop their talent as musicians. We aim that, through music, pupils will increase their                          self-confidence, creativity, collaboration skills and sense of achievement. A pupils progress, they should develop a critical engagement with music and listen, with discrimination, to the best and a wide range in the musical canon. Pupils should understand and explore how music is created, produced and communicated, including through the inter-related dimensions. They will learn that they are uniquely made by God, and He has given them each unique gifts. In turn, we will discuss how we can use our musical gifts and talents to bring worship and praise to God. Children will also take part in collective worship and hymn practice.
